The 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 takes place this Sunday, May 29, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana, just outside of Indianapolis. William Howard Taft took over as President for Teddy Roosevelt in 1909, the year the track was constructed. (That was the same year construction began on the RMS Titanic.) Nearly sold off to private development after being shuttered for the final three years of World War II, today the “brickyard,” as it’s called, is the highest-capacity sports venue in the world, seating 400,000 counting the infield seating. In honor of Sunday’s historic run we bring you this 2013 video of Team Penske wrapping their Shell-Pennzoil Indy car. Gentleman, start your engines.
